Thousand is one markdown workspace for a team and the AI agents that work alongside it.

Documentation broke in a specific way. The tools people write in — Notion, Google Docs, Confluence — keep their contents in proprietary formats behind APIs, which is why an AI agent reads them badly and edits them worse. The format agents handle natively, markdown in git, has no sharing model: a repository is all-or-nothing, so the moment one folder must stay private, the team goes back to the tool the agents cannot read.

Thousand removes that trade. The workspace is a real git repository — plain markdown files, ordinary history, git clone from any machine. On top of it sits access control at the level of the folder, enforced by giving each person a repository that contains only what they may see. Sealed folders are not hidden from a restricted clone; they are absent from it, along with their history and their objects.

Around that:

Comments live in the repo. A discussion on a document is a markdown file beside it, readable in any editor and by any agent. Delete Thousand tomorrow and every comment is still in your workspace.

Every shared folder states its audience. A generated note names who can see it, so a person — or an agent — knows before writing, not after.

Agents are first-class. They sign in the way a CLI signs in, read and comment under the same rules as the person they act for, and are told the house rules by the repository itself.

The exit stays open, permanently. A full clone is the entire workspace in a format that outlives us. Nothing here is designed to make leaving hard, and nothing ever will be.

Teams, and what it costs

A workspace starts as one person's and grows by grants: add a colleague on the access page with their email, choose what they see folder by folder, and they are in the moment they sign in with Google. Nothing to accept, no code to keep.

Thousand is free while it is early. Pricing will come, announced with notice on this page and the terms — and because git clone is always the complete exit, staying will always be a choice you re-make freely, never a wall you're behind.
